Jafar Musa, was CELD's first Mkwayi Fellow from Nigeria. He came to Garrett College in 2015. He graduated with an associate degree in 2017. He went on to Concord University in West Virginia and graduated with a Business Administration and Management degree in 2019. Jafar is currently working in Salem, Virginia as an Operation Manager for FedEx Ground.
When asked about his experience at Garrett College, Jafar stated "Garrett College is a family-oriented college that embraced everyone from different backgrounds. Their open-door policies encouraged me to engage with every staff and non-staff person on campus. The community at large invests in your well-being and sets you up to flourish. I was given the opportunity to continue to dream big and have hope in a successful future ahead of me. Thank you CELD for being part of my journey and a platform for me to continue to chase my dreams!"

In 2019 Ngoye Bobmanuel also from Nigeria enrolled at Garrett College. He too was a Mkwayi Fellow. He wants to work internationally promoting positive relationships between different nations. He graduated from Garrett College in 2020. He received a full scholarship to Trinity Christian College near Chicago, Illinois.
Ngoye was part of the Diversity Project, which was a partnership between Garrett College and two elementary schools in the community. He made presentations to children from kindergarten through fifth grade about his country. Engaging with these children provides a context for them about people that are different, yet so similar.
Bob is very appreciative of the opportunity that CELD provided for him and wants to make the most of it.
