Nxawe Primary School is in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. The school is in the rural area of the former Ciskei. Resources are scarce for learning. But, they have an amazing principal, staff and teachers. They are dedicated to their students. CELD was impressed with what they have accomplished.
In April of 2024, CELD began a Rachel server and laptop computer project with the school. Internet access is not available in the area. Therefore the Rachel server was needed. This server houses tremendous amounts of information that is used in teaching. It can provide subjects in English and Xhosa (the native language). CELD committed to financing the training of the teachers, construction of a charging safe, purchase of 10 laptop computers, a printer, and providing and installing of an inverter to help regulate the electricity so the computers would not be damaged.
The children in Nxawe are thrilled with the computers. They are learning things that would never be available before.
"On behalf of Nxawe Primary School, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the generous sponsorship you have provided. Your support has made a significant impact on our school community, and we are immensely thankful for the various resources you have provided. The Rachel server has a magnitude of information and is incredibly convenient to use. It has revolutionized our access to educational content, greatly enhancing the learning experience for both students and teacher. The provision of laptops and a printer has equipped our students and staff with the necessary tools to facilitate effective learning and administrative tasks. The inverter is especially valuable in the context of South Africa's frequent load shedding (power outages). With this inverter, Nxawe Primary School sill not suffer disruptions during power outages, ensuring that our learning activities can continue uninterrupted."
